If you're an iPad or iPhone owner you're no doubt exploring the new features introduced by iOS 6. But Apple has sneaked another new OS update out of the door at the same time - and it's equally sizeable.
OS X 10.8.2 is a new version of the Mountain Lion operating system for Mac, and it's available now. At 700MB it's a chunky piece of code, so what does it contain?
The headline feature of the OS X update has to be proper Facebook integration. Now you'll be able to share links and photos directly to the site from within the OS via a handy Share button.
You'll also notice that your Facebook profile has been integrated with your Mac's contacts - so the latter now includes your friends' profile pictures and contact information. Incoming Facebook notifications will now appear in your Notification Center.
Game Center has now also been fully Facebooked up - you can now Like games, share scores and the like.
Other additions include Power Nap support for MacBook Air users. Power Nap allows your Mac to continue updating key functions (like incoming email) even when in sleep mode, rather like a smartphone.
There's also better iMessage integration, so iMessages sent to your iPhone also appear on your Mac. Speaking of iOS - there's a new shared Reminders feature working harmoniously between the two new Apple operating systems. It's going to be harder than ever to forget that doctor's appointment.
All this and more (slightly less interesting) stuff, as well as a whole heap of stability and usability tweaks, await. So go on - get downloading.
