Our editorial independence and how we test
- We operate under cast iron principles designed to guarantee the freedom of our reviewers to say what they discover about a product.
- Unlike too many other sites, we thoroughly test everything ourselves. We use industry standard tests, in properly equipped facilities, to evaluate products in order to compare them properly against each other.
- Manufacturers don’t vet our reviews and we never, ever accept money to test something.

Our expert team
The TrustedReviews team includes many of the most experienced technology specialists in the UK. Our testers include well known journalists with many years’ expertise across mobile phone, computing, AV, photography and more.
Nick Merritt, Editorial Director and Editor in Chief
Nick is one of the UK’s most experienced editors with a long list of launches and firsts under his belt across the internet, photography, PC, homes, games and technology sectors. Nick originally trained as a software engineer, working for a short while at IBM before making the move into journalism. He was the founding editor-in-chief of TechRadar and built it into a global brand.
Alastair Stevenson, Deputy Editor
After graduating from King’s College London, Alastair started his career covering government technology policy and cyber security at The International Business Times. He later joined Incisive Media as a senior reporter in 2011 before jumping ship to Trusted Reviews in 2015. As deputy editor Alastair ensures the technical accuracy of our reviews and has a particular interest in PC chipsets and gaming hardware.

Max Parker, Managing Editor
Max joined Trusted Reviews as a features writer in 2015. Since then he has moved to features editor and then over to the mobile section as mobile, wearables and tablets editor. He’s helped run the features section of T3, and has also written for Wearable and TechRadar. Max is also responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy of our mobile phone reviews.

Aatif Sulleyman, Deputy News and Features Editor
Aatif is one of the UK’s best known tech journalists, having been news editor at Gizmodo UK and tech reporter for The Independent. He’s also written for DigitalSpy and ITProPortal.

Peter Phelps, Mobile Writer
Peter is a mobile tech writer, covering the latest smartphones, tablets, and wearables in news stories, reviews, and features.Previously he worked as a business researcher for Which?, analysing the markets for a range of home, tech, and gardening products. He graduated from the University of Southampton in 2017.
David Ludlow, Home Technology Editor
Starting life on the consumer PC press back in 1998, David has been writing about the forefront of technology for the past 20 years. David has edited Computer Shopper and launched Expert Reviews. He has written a number of books on PC building and maintenance. He looks after all things smart home and home appliances for Trusted Reviews and is responsible for the technical accuracy of our home appliance tests.

Ryan Jones, Deputy Computing Editor
Ryan graduated from Cardiff University in 2016. He then worked two years at Stuff Magazine as a staff writer, reporting on and reviewing a wide range of consumer tech and video games. In 2018 he joined Trusted Reviews as a computing writer, with a particular focus on covering PC components, gaming gadgets and virtual reality.

Adam Speight, Computing Writer
Adam joined Trusted Reviews as a staff writer after graduating from Newcastle University. He has a background in covering everything from consumer tech and video games to film and TV.

Kob Monney, TV & Audio Editor
Kob began his career at What Hi-Fi?, starting in the dusty stockroom before rising up the ranks to join the editorial and production team as the Buyer’s Guide editor. Experienced in both magazine and online publishing, he now runs the TV & audio section at Trusted Reviews where he keeps a beady eye on all the latest comings and goings in the hi-fi and home cinema market.

After graduating from The University of Sussex, Jade became our resident games writer. She is responsible for reporting on games news, reviews and previews.

Ruth started her career at the Metro newspaper, working as a staff writer for the features section. After a brief stint working on a new channel for VICE UK, she joined the Trusted Reviews team in 2019 as a senior staff writer.

Hannah Davies, Staff Writer
Hannah joined Trusted Reviews as a staff writer in 2019 after graduating from Royal Holloway, University of London. She’s also worked and studied in the US, holding positions as a video production assistant and multimedia consultant at Washington College and has built websites and written content for Hometown Multimedia in Chestertown, Maryland.
George Storr, Staff Writer
George recently joined the Trusted Reviews team after graduating with an MA from the University of Sheffield. He was previously Tech Editor for The National Student and won ‘BBC Worldwide Interview of the Year’ at the 2019 Magazine Academy Journalism Awards. He has contributed to a variety of top publications including The Scotsman, Radio Times, Boxing News and more.

Having been at the forefront of the year’s biggest tech sales, Tom can spot a bargain from a mile away. With an eye for market trends, he’s always on the lookout for the best deals that can save you some serious cash. Originally from the Outer Hebrides, Ruairidh has over a decade of experience in publishing and production. He began his career at travel and shopping guide SHOP magazine, and has also written about fashion, travel and food for a variety of publications including Quintessentially magazine, The Moodie Davitt Report and The Telegraph.
