Apple's website has confirmed that tonight we're going to see the iPhone 5. It's not the "new iPhone", or simply "iPhone". It's the iPhone 5.
Apple hasn't accidentally sent out the press release early or made a major time zone blunder, but Apple-obsessive site 9to5mac noticed that a number of URLs that will be used later on today already exist. Search results on the Apple site lead to where the unveil will eventually end up, at http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2012/09/12Apple-Introduces-iPhone-5.html, and there's a page within the site's legal section too, at http://www.apple.com/legal/rfexposure/iphone5,1/zh-Hant/.
Both these links are dead - give 'em a try - but are sure to spring into life at about 6:43pm, at an estimate. There are also links relating to the new iPod touch and new iPod nano, both expected to launch this evening.
Tonight's iPhone 5 launch event kicks off at 6pm, taking place in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena centre. We'll be tweeting live from the London launch - give us a follow @trustedreviews if you're a Twitter fan. We'll also been following-up the event with more news and articles than are strictly healthy. Hate the iPhone? Don't worry, normal service will resume soon enough.
The iPhone 5 is expected to feature a 4in screen that's longer than the iPhone 4S's, keeping phone width almost exactly the same. There'll be no hand-worrying Samsung Galaxy S3-style width here, folks.
Stay tuned over the next four hours or so for all the official news from Apple HQ.
