Xiaomi is expected to release a MacBook Air rival this year and the latest round of leaks suggest it will feature an Intel Core i7 processor – not the weaker Atom chip we previously thought.
The laptop, which will be offered in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, may also nod to the design of the MacBook Air with a sleek finish and tapered edges.

News arrives from Benchlife and suggests that a configuration featuring Intel’s i7-6500U processor and 8GB of RAM is in store for the 11-inch variant – the 13-inch model should be even more powerful.
As a measure to cut costs, neither will feature a touchscreen display, but both will ship with Windows 10 out of the box if the latest chit-chat is to be believed.
The incoming Xiaomi laptop is also expected to sport the faster-charging USB Type-C port – as seen on the 2016 12-inch MacBook.
Coupled with the beefy Intel processor, it could well give Apple’s flagship laptop a run for its money.
Reports suggest that Xiaomi will announce the new release towards the end of July.
