Microsoft not hosting Gamescom 2016 press conference

Microsoft will not be hosting a press briefing and Gamescom 2016, the company has revealed.
After Sony opted against hosting a press conference at last year’s show, its biggest rival has followed suit and instead opted to focus on the fans in attendance, providing them with hands-on opportunities for its latest titles.

There will be a fanfest similar to the one hosted at E3, and if you’re heading to the trade show, you’ll be able to get hands on with the following games:
- Forza Horizon 3
- Halo Wars 2
- ReCore
- Sea of Thieves
- We Happy Few
- Everspace
- Cuphead
With Microsoft announcing not one but two new consoles at E3: The Xbox One S and Xbox Scorpio, it makes sense to skip hosting a conference so soon after revealing such huge announcements.
It seems that now Paris Games Week will be the place where the big companies reveal its big plans via press conferences. Sony last year hosted a conference in Paris over Cologne and no doubt Microsoft will look to do the same this year.
