The supplied manual could do with a few more pages and some better instructions and pictures, but this is usually were corners have to be cut on low cost motherboards. If you are an experienced PC builder this is not an issue, but I wouldn’t recommend this motherboard to anyone that is building their first PC. When you’re not really sure what you’re doing, a good manual can make all the difference.
Performance was not out of this world, but with a score of 165 in SYSmark 2004 the K8VHA Pro is still a reasonably fast board. It doesn’t excel in any of the benchmarks, but on average the performance is acceptable. But where the K8VHA Pro really shines is in the value arena. With a street price of only £61.49, this is the cheapest Athlon 64 motherboard that’s ever made its way through the TrustedReviews lab.
It is remarkable how quickly prices of computer components drop, especially when you consider that the cheapest board in our group test just before Christmas was £93 and came with similar features. Overall the K8VHA Pro is a decent board with enough features for anyone that doesn’t need IDE RAID or any hand holding when build their PC.
The Biostar K8VHA Pro is a reasonably well featured motherboard at an amazing price for anyone looking to build an Athlon 64 system on a budget. It could still do with a better manual though.
