There are few things that look better on a television set that a big bold HD racing game, and Gameloft’s arcade-style game makes the leap from iOS to tvOS with relative aplomb.
The high-octane racer brings the same tilt-to-turn gameplay and is one of the few to utilise the Siri Remote’s motion controls in a way that doesn’t make us want to launch it through the TV set.
There are all of the high octane game modes, like Elimination, one-on-one Knockdown and the neat new Infected Mode, while you’ll be able to race in all the same locations, buy the same cars with the same customisations and, best of all, if you’re played this game on the iPhone or iPad then you’ll be able to sync your progress between devices.
The graphics aren’t quite Forza 6-esque as the detail on the tracks and cars naturally suffer a little when ported to the big screen. The seemingly low frame rate doesn’t help matters either.
Although Asphalt 8 is effectively going up against a bunch of clapped out old Ford Fiesta’s at this stage and takes the chequered flag by default, it’s going to take something pretty decent to knock it off the podium.
