The Sony Xperia Z4 will be officially unveiled next Monday, April 20, latest reports have suggested.
With the handset having missed its expected MWC 2015 showing, reports out of the manufacturer’s native Japan have suggested the eagerly awaited Z4 could be the subject of an upcoming launch event.
However, given the less than official channels through which this information has emerged, and Sony’s lack of hype building activity we would expect to precede the introduction of a new flagship phone, we must stress that these claims should be taken with a considerable pinch of salt.
Further reports have suggested that the Z4 will not launch until later in the year, with the upcoming announcement to focus on a potential spin-off to the existing Sony Xperia Z3.
We have reached out to Sony for clarification on the matter.

Joining this 2K panel will be a fleet of high-end components, at least according to recent reports.
It has been suggested that the device will pair Qualcomm’s latest 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and an improved 20-megapixel primary camera.
Although specs have been forthcoming, the Sony Xperia Z4 release date still remains shrouded in confusion and mystery.
Earlier this year, however, Sony suggested it hadn’t moved to a tradition 12 month product cycle, telling us that its next flagship offering would touch down before September.
“Z4 is the next-generation of product that we’ll be announcing,” Tim Harrison, Sony’s Vice President of Global Communications and PR, said addressing TrustedReviews.
Responding to questioning on exactly when we can expect the Xperia Z4 to drop, Harrison remained largely vague although hinted the handset could be with us sooner than expected. “No, we haven’t [moved to a more traditional 12 month product cycle],” he told us.
“As a general rule you will see some adjustment to the way we phase our products, but we’re certainly not going to offer any specific details as to when we are going to bring our next products, beyond these, at this stage.”
