Sony Xperia Z3+ price revealed as costly Z3 alternative

Sony Xperia Z3 Plus

Pricing has now been revealed for the Sony Xperia Z3+, the company’s latest flagship smartphone.

The phone was launched earlier this week, although details on pricing and availability weren’t released at the time.

Fortunately, online retailer Clove UK has opened up pre-orders for the handset, outing the SIM-free price.

If you want Sony’s new cellular off contract, it’ll cost you £549 including VAT.

This’ll get you the 32GB version of the device in either Copper, Black, or White colour variants.

There’s still no definitive shipping date however, with Clove listing its dispatch timeframe as ‘late June’.

Unfortunately, for many the £549 price tag will be far too high to justify purchasing a device with minimal upgrades from the Xperia Z3.

What’s more, you can buy the Xperia Z3 SIM-free on Amazon right now, brand new, for £360.98.

There really are very few changes between the handsets. The Z3+ carries a more powerful processor, a slimmer and more refined body, and increased built-in storage. The battery is smaller on the Z3+, however.

The smartphone is priced similarly to its rivals however, with the LG G4 marking up at £530 and the iPhone 6 costing £505.

Is Sony’s new flagship too expensive, or do the specs justify the price? Let us know in the comments.

Not surprising really. A lot of tech companies are overly optimistic with their pricing. Are Sony trying to convince themselves that a premium price is a fair reflection of their brand at this present time? For Xperia fans (an endangered species) or Android users after a bargain, the Z3 at £188 cheaper, makes a lot more sense. And there is no justification for pricing it above the LG G4. Other than the processor (a liability to some) it is an inferior phone. The iPhone 6, which is actually £540 for the 16GB version, doesn't really figure in the equation. One is an instantly recognisable, widely different smartphone that shifts tens of millions of units a month. While the other is...well...the Sony Xperia Z3+

Just because iPhone 6 sells better, doesn't mean it is better than the Z3 (if that is you gauge for what is better)
