LG G4 to grow as larger 5.6-inch screen is tipped

LG’s latest flagship phone looks set to push firmly into phablet territory, with the LG G4 tipped to feature a 5.6-inch display.

Although only a marginal size increase over the 5.5-inch LG G3, if accurate, this oversized G4 screen would see the Korean manufacturer’s latest Galaxy S6 challenger line up more than half an inch larger than some of its closest rivals.

While the Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch, QHD panel, the HTC One M9 hosts a 5-inch display and the iPhone 6 is even smaller with a 4.7-inch screen.

The plus-sized G4 claims have been made by Twitter-based tipster @OnLeaks who, taking to the social media site, stated: “Looks like the #LG G4 has a… 5.6” screen.”

Pressed on where the information had come from, the tipster suggested he couldn’t say but hinted that the phone could enter the realms of reality ‘soon’.

Given the less than official avenues from which this G4 news has surfaced, we must stress these reports should be taken with a pinch of salt for now.

LG managed to keep down the G3’s overall footprint while adding a 5.5-inch, QHD screen thanks to a near bezel-free design.

Although firmed-up details are still unclear, it is expected that the upcoming LG G4 will feature a similarly boarder bereft design.

Further LG G4 features tipped to make an appearance include Qualcomm’s latest 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and an improved 16-megapixel camera.

The phone is expected to be unveiled around the middle part of the year.

Here we go again, why cant we just go back to normal size phones a 5" screen is surely big enough for most users.

If they can fit a larger screen in a body no bigger then why not. Also maybe the G4 is targeting users who want a phablet which is expected to be a third of the market by 2016.

I didn't complain about fitting a larger screen to a standard size phone by reducing bezel size etc. Besides the G2 had a 5.2" screen with minimal bezel so I fail to see how they could fit a larger screen on that.

Yes I know that some people like Phablets but there are plenty of us that don't and phone makers seem to be obsessed with large screen sizes at the moment hence my comment.

There are plenty of devices around 5inches some of which are the best around. S6/edge, iphone 6, m9, xperia z3? Manufacturers are definitly obsessed with 5inches and above though so if you wanted smaller than 5ish inches then i can see your point
