iPods and DAB radios are expected to be two of the most popular Christmas presents this year so how come this has taken so long...?

Just in time for Santa Season, both Pure and Intempo have had the same why-didn't-we-think-of-this-sooner-idea: a DAB radio capable iPod speaker dock.

In Pure's case it has come up with the 'Chronos iDock' (above, right) a DAB, FM and iPod capable unit with four independent alarms and adjustable sleep timer. It cuddles rainforests too as Pure has been designed and manufactured to minimise its environmental impact with standby power consumption of less than 1W and packaging and documentation derived from recycled and sustainable materials.

As for Intempo, it has designed the 'RDi' - a meatier 30W model with 15W subwoofer, DAB & FM radio with 16 presets, retractable iPod dock tray, alarm and 23 key remote control.

Both go on sale immediately with the iDock costing just £99.99 and the RDi slightly more at £119.99. Either will make an cracking Chrimbo present, though why such options weren't available last year or even the year before is something of a mystery...
