What is Pixel Pass? Google’s new subscription service

Google recently unveiled the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, along with an all-new way to get the phones. Here’s everything you need to know about Pixel Pass, Google’s answer to the Apple One bundle.

Here’s everything you need to know about the all-in-one Google subscription.

What is Pixel Pass?

Pixel Pass is a subscription bundle that includes device protection, regular device upgrades and a number of popular mobile services at a set monthly price.

Here’s what the package includes:

  • An unlocked Pixel phone
  • Google One with 200GB of cloud storage, automatic backups and Google Store discounts
  • Preferred Care repair cover
  • YouTube Premium
  • YouTube Music Premium
  • Google Play Pass

All of the above are available for $45 a month with the Pixel 6 or $55 a month with the Pixel 6 Pro. Google claims the bundle could save users up to $294 over two years on the Google Store or $414 with Google Fi.

You can pre-order the bundle now through the Google Store or with a phone plan with Google Fi. You can also cancel your subscription at any time by paying off the remainder of your Pixel at the usual price.

However, as you may have guessed by the dollar signs above and the inclusion of Google’s US exclusive Preferred Care, this is a US only deal.

The price is higher than the £14.95/$14.95 a month you’d pay for rival Apple’s Apple One bundle. Of course, the Apple bundle doesn’t include a phone which is where the bulk of your Pixel Pass subscription seems to go.

It’s also interesting to note that Google Stadia is mysteriously absent, despite being Google’s own cloud game streaming service.

Pixel Pass is available to pre-order right now in the US, alongside Google’s new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
