Report: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 release date and press render revealed

While the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 might have missed its rumoured June-unveiling, the device could nearly be here.
That’s according to a new report that claims two versions of the flagship slate – 8-inch and 9.7-inch – will be announced as soon as tomorrow.
The article, which comes courtesy of Dutch site GSM Help Desk, specifically cites July 20 as the date for the grand unveiling.
We’ve also seen a second leak, this time of an apparent press render seemingly depicting the tablets in their new, svelte forms – that’s thanks to a report by TabletMonkeys.
The Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 are the successors to last year’s acclaimed Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 tablets.
This time, however, both tablets will ship with sub-6mm profiles, while losing none of their…specs appeal.

The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will reportedly carry an 8-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution.
The Tab S2 9.7, meanwhile, will apparently feature a 9.7-inch Super AMOLED with the same resolution.
What’s more, both devices are tipped to use 4:3 aspect ratio screens – that’s just like Apple’s iPad Air 2.
Other common specs include a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor a la the Galaxy S6, 3GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and 32GB of storage as standard.
The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is expected to start at $399, while the beefier 9.7 should begin retailing at $499.
