A mysterious new teaser posted this week has triggered some speculation that the OnePlus 6T may arrive much later than previously expected.
OnePlus’ next flagship had been widely tipped for an October launch, but an image posted to Chinese social media site Weibo by the phone maker this week suggests it could instead emerge in January.

The teaser shows a OnePlus handset running a calendar app. January 15 2019 is highlighted on it, with an event set for 3am-4am, presumably Chinese time (which would be evening in the UK). The post gives nothing else away.
The OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 3T were both released in November, so a January release for the 6T would come as quite a big surprise. Also, as mentioned above, everything else we’ve heard before now has pointed to an October reveal.
Could January 15 instead be the launch date for the next-gen OnePlus 7? Maybe, but once again this seems highly unlikely because it doesn’t fit in with what we’ve come to expect from OnePlus.
After all, the OnePlus 6 only came out in May, and the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3 came out even later in the year, in June.

What’s more, it doesn’t really make much sense for the company to tease the OnePlus 7 before the OnePlus 6T even officially exists.
Could a new colour scheme be in the offing? Can we expect an announcement around 5G?
Right now, we quite simply don’t know what OnePlus has in store for us at the start of 2019, but we’ve asked the company for more details and will update this article with its response.
