Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is coming to Switch with all new content
Retro Studios’ Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is jumping onto Nintendo Switch later this year, the company confirmed earlier today.
The upcoming port was announced as part of a recent Nintendo Direct presentation alongside the likes of Dark Souls Remastered and The World Ends with You – Final Remix.
Set to launch on May 4 exclusively for Nintendo’s hybrid console, Tropical Freeze will feature the original game alongside some nifty new content.
This includes Funky Town, a new mode celebrating the return of the fittingly named Funky Kong. Capable of double jumps, infinite rolls and hovering, it’s a great mode for newcomers.

You’ll also have the option to play alongside friends with the Tropical Freeze co-op mode, which worked pretty well on the Wii U.
The iconic ape’s latest adventure earned 7/10 in our original review. Here’s what we thought when it launched back in 2014:
‘Donkey Kong’s latest adventure is a slick, good-looking and demanding 2D platformer that works like a trooper to keep you entertained. It’s not that imaginative, inventive, original or quirky, though, and after New Super Mario Bros U or the superb Rayman Legends it feels conservative.’
