The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild must sell 2 million copies to be a success
The latest entry in the Zelda franchise must sell at least 2 million copies to be considered a success for Nintendo.
Breath of the Wild is scheduled to launch for both Nintendo Wii U and NX in March 2017, acting as a launch title for the latter platform.
Details on the upcoming title surfaced in a recent Nintendo shareholders meeting, kindly translated by Twitter user Cheesemeister.

Zelda and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that over 100 people are currently working on the game, with a total of 300 in its credits from the past five years.
The costs [of production] will be recovered by selling in large volumes”, Miyamoto said, “passing 2 million sales. A game is a hit in the domestic market if it reaches 300k sales, but we’re targeting worldwide sales.”
Considering Breath of the Wild is launching simultaneously on two platforms, one of which has an install base of 12 million, it should have no problem hitting such a target.
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD sold a total of 1.6 million units on one platform alone, and that’s just a HD remake.
