Capcom has released two brief new teasers for Resident Evil 7 showcasing characters and mechanics from the upcoming survival horror.
The first 36-second video shows the protagonist answering a telephone to a mysterious yet familiar voice.
Hardcore Resident Evil fans will immediately recognise the voice, which sounds incredibly similar to Sheva Alomar, Chris Redfield’s partner in Resident Evil 5.
It could be an entirely new character, and the resemblance is purely a coincidence. However, it is worth noting that Resident Evil 7 takes place after the events of Resident Evil 6. Knowing this, we can expect some familiar faces to crop up.

The second teaser, titled ‘Shotgun in the Box’ teases the return of item boxes, a beloved staple of older Resident Evil titles.
Item boxes can be used to store a multitude of weapons and gadgets if you don’t have enough space in your inventory. Hopefully Resident Evil 7 reintroduces other classic tropes such as typewriters and *gulp* giant zombie spiders.
Resident Evil 7 is launching on January 24, 2017 for PS4, PSVR, Xbox One and PC.
