LG secretly showed off curved display phone at CES

Looks like LG has been hard at work on a new smartphone that touts a curved display a la the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

An image purporting to show a mystery LG handset has turned up online, with claims that the company showed off the phone in secret at CES, as noted by GForGames.

While CES sees a host of announcements from top tech firms, many companies choose to keep a select few items locked up in invite-only rooms.

In this case, it seems LG wanted to keep its new display under wraps, and abstained from chucking the previously unseen device out onto the conference floor.

While this isn’t the first time LG has broached curved displays (read: LG G Flex 2), this type of curve is new to the firm.

It’s very reminiscent of last year’s Galaxy Note Edge, which touted the same style of screen, albeit only on the right side of the device.

According to the source, LG is already prepared to start selling its ‘Active Bending’ P-OLED display to other companies, with Xiaomi tipped to be amongst the first entrants to the bendy-screen fold.

The image also revealed that the demo unit proffered a display measuring 6-inches corner-to-corner, with a 720p resolution.

It’s not clear whether this mystery handset is the yet-to-be announced LG G4, or a more obscure spin-off model.
