iPhone 6 to include temperature, pressure and humidity sensors?

The iPhone 6 may feature a temperature, pressure and humidity sensor, according to one electronics analyst.

Speaking to Sun Chang Xu, ESM-China news chief analyst, “sources close to the matter” have revealed the iPhone 6 could feature significant new sensor technology.

In fact, the sources suggest that that the iPhone 6 will have much to brag about in the “sensors department”, featuring pressure, temperature and humidity sensors.

However, the analyst was quick to add that the sensors for the iPhone 5S follow-on will most likely not include a blood pressure sensor, as this is something strongly tipped to feature in the Apple Watch.

This means the pressure sensor in the iPhone 6 will refer to atmospheric pressure.

The iPhone 6 is heavily rumoured to launch alongside the iWatch later this year and come with the new iOS 8 operating system.

iOS 8 is tipped to be capable of monitoring various fitness and health stats, including your blood pressure, heart rate, hydration, calories burnt and even your glucose levels.

Incorporating basic support for readings like temperature or atmospheric pressure therefore doesn’t seem too farfetched.

Other smartphones already feature this technology as well, including the Samsung Galaxy S4, so it makes sense for Apple to play the catch up game a little bit with its next flagship.

Recent iPhone 6 rumours put the device’s screen size at 4.7-inches, potentially using quantum dot display technology.

Although the iPhone 6 camera resolution is expected to stay at 8-megapixels, it is tipped to feature a bigger sensor with an aperture size of f/2.0.
