HTC has announced that one of its most popular phones of recent years, the HTC One M8, is to get an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon.
The Taiwanese manufacturer has been struggling for what seems like forever, but to its credit it has continued to provide timely software updates, at least for the most part.
Back when Android 6.0 Marshmallow first hit, HTC was quick to provide assurances that its recent flagship phones would get the update this autumn.
Now we have news - albeit from an unofficial source - as to when the popular HTC One M8 will get a taste of Marshmallow.
Twitter tipster LlabTooFeR today tweeted that "Final M8 Android 6.0 and Sense 7.0 update for Europe will be available in about 2 weeks."

As that suggests, the HTC One M8 will also finally be getting the latest version of HTC's divisive (albeit much improved) Sense UI at the same time. This was supposed to arrive back in August as part of the Android 5.1 update, but never did.
This would mean that the HTC One M8 gets the latest version of Android before its successor, the HTC One M9. Given the latter phone's failure to ignite sales or critical appreciation like its predecessor, it's perhaps understandable that the older phone should get the nod here.
