A revamped Nexus 10, manufactured by Google and Asus, will soon be on its way to UK stores according to sources.
An anonymously-leaked photo, shared on Twitter by @evleaks, appears to reveal that retailers are preparing for the arrival of the new Android tablet.
Captioned “getting closer…” it shows a screenshot of what seems to be information about the device on a UK store’s website.
Although Google has not yet announced a release date for the 10 2, the image is the latest hint that it will hit shelves in the next few months.
In July, the Wall Street Journal reported that Android head Sundar Pichai said to expect the 10 2 in the ‘near future’. Then, in August, Geek.com revealed it had been informed that the 10 2 would arrive by Christmas.
This latest snap is also a new clue as to whether Google has ditched original manufacturer Samsung in favour of Asus who made the Google Nexus 7 2 its predecessor the 7. The image has the Taiwanese brand listed in the product description.
A switch in manufacturer would be surprising decision considering Samsung’s experience with the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab, however the Asus-designed Nexus 7 was more popular than its larger-screened sibling when the products launched together in July 2012.
The Nexus 10 arrived with a 10-inch, 2560 x 1600 display as well as Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and a powerful Samsung Exynos dual-core 1.7GHz processor.
Any update would likely see a quad-core processor included alongside ready-to-go Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is already available for owners of the current device to download.
The progress will come with an increase in price though. A listing leaked from the Curry internal systems in September seemingly confirmed that the Nexus 10 2 will have a £349.99 price tag – £30 more than the £319.99 the original Nexus 10 debuted for and continues to sell at.
