While Apple refreshes have been the theme of the year so far, rival Creative has been pretty quiet - until now...

Today sees the company play catch up, finally providing a UK release date for its upgraded Stone players and cutting prices on its flagship ZEN.

Dealing with the little guys first, the Stones (2GB standard, 2GB & 4GB Plus) will launch on 1 March retailing for £29.99, £37.99 and £49.99. We heard about these way back in November so this info is long overdue.

As for the ZENs, the 4GB and 8GB models will see price drops from £89.99 and £119.99 to £79.99 and £99.99 respectively. It is rumoured the drop is so Creative can make way for a WiFi enabled model at CeBIT and while this may be true I'd also argue with the falling price of flash and five months of market availability it was due anyway.

Interestingly, while the 16GB and 32GB ZENs are said be remain unaltered at £199.99 and £249.99 they are now both being found online for £159.99 and £199.99 respectively, so something is definitely in the air...
