Archos 97 Titanium HD – Battery Life

Archos doesn’t actually let on what the battery capacity is for the 97 Titanium HD, but in our tests we managed to make the tablet’s battery life last around 10 hours with the brightness turned right down. Otherwise, you’re looking at around 7 hours, which pales in comparison to other equally priced tablets.

Other things to consider

Unfortunately, with the Archos 97 Titanium HD, you’ll only get 8GB of internal memory. There is a microSD card slot at the top of the device to bolster that mediocre storage option to store your music, photos (if you take any) and other media content.

Should I buy the Archos 97 Titanium HD?

It’s worth considering if you want a high-res Android tablet that looks and feels like an iPad, or simply can’t afford a Google Nexus 10.

However, there are better tablets out there if you are willing to change your price range a bit. If you opt for a smaller screen, Google’s own Nexus 7 will offer a good quality screen, the same Android interface and a lot more internal storage than the Archos.

If you like larger tablets, the iPad 4 is an obvious choice but of course is a lot more money than the Archos 97 Titanium HD. At a minimum cost of £339 the iPad 4 with retina display is double the price of the Archos, but will offer the iOS platform and the Apple build quality.

The Nexus 10 would also be a decent choice over the Archos 97 Titanium HD, but again you’ll be forking out nearly £100 more for the 10-inch Google slate.

Verdict

Overall, the Archos 97 Titanium HD is a decent Android tablet that offers a good quality screen, build quality and is very easy to use. However, sluggish performance will frustrate you as time goes on.
