Microsoft has released the Xbox One SmartGlass app for Android and iOS devices ahead of the console’s launch on Friday.
The highly anticipated Xbox One console will launch on Friday November 22, so Microsoft is preparing for its arrival with the Xbox One SmartGlass companion app.
Available to download for free now from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the app will serve as a way to interact with the Xbox One dashboard and compatible games.
“Xbox One SmartGlass is the perfect companion app for your Xbox One, both in your living room and on the go. Connect and control your Xbox One”, reads the official description in the app stores.
The Xbox One SmartGlass app landed on Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 devices on Tuesday, November 20.
Microsoft’s app will enable Xbox One gamers to browse the dashboard, view their DVR clips, chat to their Xbox Live pals and discover new gaming content.
They’ll also be able to browse the internet on the TV, use their mobile device as a media and set top box remote.
SmartGlass for Xbox One will also allow them to pin content to the home screen on the console, track their achievements and get game help.
Game developers like Crytek for Ryse: Son of Rome and Capcom for Dead Rising 3 are using SmartGlass to enhance the gameplay experience on Xbox One with second screen functionality.
Sony is also releasing a PS4 Link app to provide similar functionality for smartphones and tablets with the PS4. It will also allow Remote Play and Second Screen gaming for the PS Vita.
