Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Release Date: Where to buy the Z1 mini
Sony announced the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact during its CES 2014 press conference on January 6.
The smaller, but no less powerful, version of its Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone is expected to be released at the end of February, but there’s no concrete date as yet.
Sony has revealed the SIM-free price of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact though, with the powerful 4.3-inch smartphone costing you £449.99 contract-free.
We’ve rounded up where you can get your mitts on the Z1 Compact, and will update this page with all the relevant information.
Sony
Sony has opened up the pre-orders for SIM-free Z1 Compact handsets in all four colours, with deliveries expected at the end of February.
Without a contract, the Z1 Compact will set you back £449.99, just £30 cheaper than the Z1 thanks to its powerful specs sheet.
If you pre-order it from Sony though, you will get a Sony SmartWatch 2 for free as well.
O2
O2 has announced that the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact will be available on its 4G and 3G tariffs. Pricing and availability has yet to be announced though, with the phone listed as “coming soon” on the O2 website.
It seems O2 will offer the handset on a pay monthly and pay as you go basis. You can be “kept in the loop” via the O2 website though.
Carphone Warehouse
The UK mobile phone retailer has confirmed that it will stock the Xperia Z1 Compact, but hasn’t said when or for how much as yet.
Customers can register their interest on the Carphone Warehouse website now though, and will be told when the device will be available to order.
“The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is an impressive piece of technology that packs a powerful punch with plenty of attractive features and a brilliant battery life,” said a Carphone Warehouse spokesperson. “Despite being smaller than its Z1 counterpart, it doesn’t compromise on features or hardware like the mini versions of some other popular handsets.”
Phones 4u
Not only will Phones 4u be stocking the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, but you can pre-order it right now from the website.
With your pre-order, you’ll also get a Sony SRS-BTX300 wireless speaker (RRP. £119). If you opt for one of the selected contracts, Phones 4u will even chuck in a free £65 voucher for movies and music.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact will be offered for free on contracts starting at £29 per month from Vodafone through Phones 4u. (Vodafone itself hasn’t yet listed the Z1 Compact.) The 24-month contract will offer 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.
