Capcom on Resident Evil Nemesis Remake: “Who knows what the future holds”

Speaking to Trusted Reviews at Gamescom 2018, Capcom hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake.
Set to launch on January 25, 2019, Resident Evil 2 Remake is a project fans have been waiting years for. With the original remaining a masterpiece in the eyes of many, stakes are high on Capcom to deliver.
Trusted Reviews is equally as excited, and we had a chance to catch up with Game Director Kazunori Kadoi and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi about how development is coming along, future plans, and whether we can expect RE2 Remake on Nintendo Switch.
“As long as the hardware we’re targeting is able to handle the game we’re developing then it’s got flexibility. but at the moment we’re focusing the development of games like Resident Evil 2 Remake on PS4, Xbox One and PC,” explaining Kadoi when asked about the prospect of a Switch release.
This is no huge surprise, as from a visual perspective, Resident Evil Remake 2 seems set to surpass even Resident Evil 2 in how beautifully grotesque it appears.

Remakes in the Resident Evil series are nothing new, with the second installment following behind the likes of the original, which is often regarded as the best in the series.
Knowing this, we couldn’t help but ask Kanoi and Hirabayashi about the prospect of Capcom returning to Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
“We are currently focused on Resident Evil 2 Remake, getting it out of the door and seeing how everyone receives it in January but, who knows what the future holds.”
Whether it comes to fruition or not, it is clear that a passion for survival horror previously absent at Capcom has rekindled, and we can’t wait to see more.
