iPhone 6 and iOS7 rumours heighten as handset appears at Apple HQ
Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S rumours have kicked into overdrive as new reports suggest new iPhone handset hardware has been spotted at Apple HQ running the as yet unannounced iOS 7 operating system.
Believed to be well underway in the development process, the next-generation Apple handset, rumoured to be either the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, is claimed to have been spotted doing the rounds in Apple’s head offices in Cupertino, California.
Citing unnamed developers, The Next Web has suggested that references to the new iPhone identifier have been shared, with the device currently in testing alongside the expected iOS 7 mobile OS update sporting the moniker ‘iPhone 6.1’. Based on the LTE 4G nature and band of the model, current iPhone 5 handsets support the identifiers ‘iPhone 5.1’ and ‘iPhone 5.2’.
Hinting at a “middle part of this year” iPhone 6 release date, latest reports on the mooted handset, which is believed by some to be heading for launch as the iPhone 5S, have suggested the handset identifier was spotted in app requests made from an IP address at Apple HQ. Suggesting Apple employees are currently testing the iPhone 6 for app compatibility, it is expected the next-gen Samsung Galaxy S3 rival will touch down in the coming months.
iPhone 6 Rumours
Whether named the iPhone 6 or iPhone 5S a number of rumours have begun circulating around Apple’s next-generation smartphone offering in recent weeks.
Said to boast the same 4-inch form factor and design as the current iPhone 5, the iPhone 6 is rumoured to be just an incremental update on its predecessor with insiders recently suggesting that the device would touch down with a selection of innards Apple was unable to fit within the iPhone 5 due to time constraints.
Reportedly set to take design hints from the current breed of iPod touch models, iPhone 5S rumours have suggested the handset will be made available in “6-8 colours”. What’s more, those close to the matter have claimed that a “super HD camera/screen, a better battery, and NFC” will all also be thrown into the mix.
