IO Interactive teases what’s next for Hitman
IO Interactive has announced the ‘next Hitman game’ is currently in development at the studio.
The confirmation was made in a blog post detailing the first season of Hitman’s GOTY Edition content, which is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
“One last thing about our next Hitman game; I want to let you know that we’re making great progress and we have exciting new features and some franchise firsts, which we can’t wait to tell you all about,’ explained IO CEO Hakan Abrak. You’ll have to wait a little longer as we don’t plan to start talking about that until some point in 2018.”
Prior to its departure from Square Enix and subsequent independence, Hitman’s first season was initially part of a three season plan. Time will tell whether this still remains the case.

The first season featured six unique locations containing unique assassination targets, opportunities and weapons. Here’s hoping the next instalment spans just as many globe-trotting locales.

We loved Hitman, praising it as one of the finest titles of 2016 in our 9/10 review:
‘Hitman is an easy contender for one of the games of 2016, and an example of how to do episodic gaming correctly. There may have been the odd technical hiccup along the way, but the end result is excellent.’
