The Huawei Ascend W1 UK release date has been set as March 7, as the Chinese manufacturer signs an exclusive deal with 02.
Available for £119.99 on PAYG, the Huawei Ascend W1 will also be offered as a free handset on contracts from £13.50 per month.
O2 will be offering the Windows Phone 8 handset in ‘Electric Blue’ to begin with, but from March 18 the handset will also be available in ‘Electric Pink’.
Huawei Ascend W1 Features
Definitely not one of the market topping handsets in terms of specs, the Huawei Ascend W1 is still very much capable of coping with day-to-day smartphone needs. The Windows Phone 8 handset offers a 4-inch 480 x 800p IPS LCD display supporting 4-point multitouch sensing powered by 1.2GHZ dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Adreno 305 graphics for mobile gaming.
A 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash features in the rear, paired with a VGA front-facing snapper and 4GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card to offer an additional 32GB. Powered by a 1950mAh battery, the Huawei Ascend W1 should last you the full work day too.
The Huawei Ascend W1 is the first Windows Phone 8 handset from the Chinese manufacturer and will feature all the perks of the Microsoft OS including customisable Windows Live Tiles and dynamic lock screen.
So far Huawei has not announced whether the Huawei Ascend W1 will be available on other networks in the future, with O2 currently the exclusive retailer.
