Battlefield 4 features tipped by official survey

An official Battlefield 4 survey has potentially revealed new gameplay features including naval combat and more responsive, dynamic environments.

Battlefield 4 could feature extending naval combat sequences and environments that are much more reactive to the actions of the player.

Although EA has revealed the survey is genuine and was released by the publisher, it has said any new features listed are “not indicative of anything we have in the works.”

“Battlefield 4 extends the front past the shoreline with the addition of intense and dramatic water-based combat,” reads the survey. “Pilot attack boats, RHIBs [rigid-hulled inflatable boats], and jet skis on swelling seas and stormy oceans.”

The questionnaire also provides a list of example reactive game environments that will greatly improve the variety of each level, which will change according to the way players approach their attacks.

Experience a more dynamic battlefield where no two games will ever be the same. Blow the foundations of a dam and flood the area of combat. Bump into a vehicle and its alarm will give away your position. Cut the power to a building and envelop the enemy in a cloak of darkness. Your actions physically change the battlefield in real time, providing interactive game environments that react to your every move.”

“Immerse yourself in the glorious chaos of all-out war. More maps, more vehicles, more weapons, more classes and more destruction allow you to create your own path and play to your strengths. Absolutely nothing compares to the sheer scale and scope of Battlefield 4.”

Also potentially revealed by the survey are the Battlefield 4 Battlepacks. These are unlockable rewards that are achieved according to how many hours a gamer invests in Battlefield 4.

“Possible rewards include bonus XP boosts, knives, weapon attachmnets, and customisation options like soldier camos, weapon paints and dog tags [that] will let you play your way and stand out on the battlefield. The more you play the faster you earn them, but with 300 possible Battlepacks featuring more than 1200 items, you never know what you’ll unlock.”

A Battlefield 4 release date has been set for sometime in “fall” this year for Xbox 360, PS3 and potentially the next-gen PS4 and Xbox 720 consoles too.
