These fancy new sports watches are the sleekest Garmin wearables yet

Sports watches are great, but they typically lack a certain classiness when it comes to design. Now, Garmin has an alternative in the form of the newly announced Fenix Chronos.

The new premium watch looks like any other luxury watch, and is available in three styles: premium titanium and two stainless steel options that come with either a leather or stainless steel band.

But underneath the fancy exterior, the devices pack all the smart capabilities that come with the Fenix 3, including GPS, and sleep and heart rate tracking.

And although the watch doesn’t run on Android Wear, it can still show you notifications from your phone.

Also included with the stylish new wearable is a 3-axis compass, altimeter and barometer, and GLONASS.

The battery should last up to 13 hours when used for GPS-based navigation, and using the included UltraTrac mode, where the watch uses a combination of GPS and the accelerometer, allows the battery to keep going for 25 hours.

In standard watch mode, the Chronos battery should last you about a week.

And if you were worried that all that newly refined design meant you couldn’t take the Fenix Chronos swimming, fear not. The watch is waterproof up to 100 metres.

Elsewhere there’s the 1.2-inch Chroma colour display covered by scratch-resistant sapphire glass, plus you’ll get the usual Garmin Connect functionality that allows you to log your stats through Garmin’s online fitness community.

Of course, all this luxury is going to cost you. The Fenix Chronos starts at £1,099.99 for the full Titanium model, while the stainless steel versions cost £949.99 for the steel strap model and £849.99 for the leather strap alternative.

But hey, the thing comes in a wooden box apparently. No cardboard nonsense here. We’re sold!
