Reports from China claim that the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will feature a considerable bump up in power.

We've only just passed the launch window of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but the internet waits for no one. We're already hearing murmurs concerning the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6.

If history is anything to go by, we should see Samsung's next flagship phablet hitting shops some time over the next four months. When it does, it could be powered by a Snapdragon 823 and a staggering 8GB of RAM.

That's the claim being made by an anonymous user over on that hotbed of Chinese tech gossip, Weibo.

Given the source of the information, we're taking these claims with a hefty pinch of salt. As PocketNow points out, the Weibo poster also makes the dubious claim that the LG G Flex 3 will go with the same chip.

Last year LG went with a different kind of secondary flagship phone in the LG V10, so a return to the oddball Flex brand seems unlikely at this point.

It's also worth noting that the Galaxy Note 5 was powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7420 last year, and that Samsung has gone with its own Exynos 8890 chip for the Galaxy S7 in most territories.

The Snapdragon 823 is rumoured to be a souped up version of the Snapdragon 820, which powers the US Galaxy S7, as well as the LG G5. It's also rumoured to be capable of supporting 8GB of RAM, though previous rumours have claimed that the Note 6 will stick with a more modest 6GB.

4GB of RAM is plenty for a smartphone right now. I can get by quite comfortable with a single GB of RAM with a well-optimized smartphone (Windows). I can see Samsung stuffing 6GB of RAM into the Note 6 and I'm sure someone will find some improvement but I can't really say that 8GB of RAM would be worth the inevitable price hike.

It will also have 250gb rom, 6000 MaH battery, detach in two parts when you need a smaller device for a night out and launch for £449.
