NVIDIA enters the tablet game with the official unveiling of the Tegra Note

NVIDIA has announced its entrance to the tablet game with the NVIDIA Tegra Note formally unveiled as a 7-inch offering with a quad-core CPU.

Built around the NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor, the NVIDIA Tegra Note is set to launch globally in the coming months, with the Android powered tablet lining up as a direct rival to the second-generation Google Nexus 7 and market leading iPad mini.

“So what’s Tegra Note? It’s a complete tablet platform, designed by NVIDIA and brought to market by our partners,” an official NVIDIA spokesperson said in making the announcement. They added: “It embodies the NVIDIA brand – from our hardware and software (right down to OTA updates), to our industrial design, accessories and network of partners in game development.”

NVIDIA Tegra Note Features
Seemingly set to be something of a mid to high-end offering, the NVIDIA Tegra Note specs sheet has been confirmed to feature an array of desirable additions, including the company’s powerful Tegra 4 mobile processor.

A quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, the Tegra 4 processor is backed up by an impressive 72-core GeForce GPU and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via micoSD.

With a microHDMI connector in tow, NVIDIA Tegra Note features list sees a pair of cameras land, with a 5-megapixel rear-mounted snapper paired with a secondary VGA option up front. The 7-inch display in an HD IPS offering, with a middle of the road 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.

Coming bundled with a stylus, the NVIDIA Tegra Note benefits from NVIDIA DirectStylus technology which the company claims “transforms a normal stylus into an incredibly responsive experience with finer point and broader stroke control.”

With front-facing stereo speakers, the NVIDIA Tegra Note specs sheet is rounded off by a claimed 10 hour battery life.

NVIDIA Tegra Note Release Date and Price
While NVIDIA has yet to narrow down an exact date of launch for its upcoming tablet, an NVIDIA Tegra Note release date has been promised “in the next few months.”

Offering a little more detail, the company has revealed that an NVIDIA Tegra Note price will see wannabe owners forced to part ways with £179.99.
