Despite admitting flagging interest in the Nexus brand, Google is working with manufacturers on two new pure Android smartphones, according to reports on Tuesday.
An AndroidPolice report claims both LG and Huawei have been pegged to release devices before the year is out.
Both manufacturers have been rumoured to be producing the next breed of Nexus devices, but today’s report offers plenty of new information.
According to the speculation, the LG device will boast a 5.2-inch display with the same six-core Snapdragon 808 processor used in the flagship LG G4 handset. The device has been nicknamed Angler, the report says, and will likely to pioneer the Android M operating system.
As for the Huawei ‘Bullhead’ phone, well it’ll have a 5.7-inch display complete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Naturally, it should also arrive on the scene carrying Android M.
Don’t look for either device when Google takes the stage on to unveil the new OS on Thursday at Google I/O. It’s probable both will turn up around October, as the Nexus 6 did last year.
Given the unfavourable reception offered to the unwieldy Nexus 6 phone, manufactured by Motorola, it has been questioned whether Google would return to the Nexus brand.
During its recent quarterly earnings report, Google admitted the preference of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 hadn’t been as strong as previous years’ offerings.

LG of course has experienced previous success in the market with the extremely well-received Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, but this’ll be the first time Huawei has been enlisted by Google, if the reports turn out to be true.
