Moto 360 photos show off wireless charging and heart rate sensor

New leaked Moto 360 photos have shown off some of the features for the upcoming round-faced smartwatch.

Some fresh leaked images of the Moto 360 have shown off how it will be wirelessly charged and revealed a few of its unannounced features.

One of the things we don’t really know about the Moto 360 is how it will be charged. Its Android Wear rivals come with special proprietary charging cradles, but the Moto 360 is going down the wireless route.

Italian blog MisterGadget has managed to obtain both the Moto 360 and its charging dock and released some pictures, showing us exactly how it’ll charge.

The charger itself seems to be a cradle-like structure that holds the watch with the face pointing towards you. This is probably designed so you can use it as a bedside alarm clock while the 360 charges overnight.

There’s no mention of what kind of wireless charging technology it uses, but a recent FCC filing suggests it will be Qi standard. That means it could work with existing wireless charging pads.

Further leaked images reveal some of the key features of the first Motorola Android Wear smartwatch.

On the underside of the face you can see some of the already announced features like a pedometer, IP67 dust and water resistance certification and a re-confirmation that it will be made from stainless steel.

However, there’s also mention of an optical heart rate sensor built into the Moto 360 too. That technology would put it on par with the Samsung Gear Live and other fitness-focused smartwatches, but it’s the first we’ve heard of the Moto 360 packing such a feature.

We’re still holding out for the long teased Moto 360 release date, originally scheduled for some time this summer. We’re already in early August and we’ve still not been given an update on that release window, but hopefully Motorola will throw us a Moto 360 shaped bone soon.
