The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 could launch alongside the Surface Mini next week according to an official Microsoft Support page.
Microsoft is holding a Surface launch event on May 20 in New York City that was originally thought to be just for a Microsoft Surface Mini tablet.
However, thanks to a now removed Microsoft Support page, the Surface Pro 3 could be officially unveiled at the same event.
The Support page stated that a fresh update for Windows 8.1 will “add support to the Surface Pro 3 camera”, despite the fact that tablet doesn’t yet exist.
Some have suggested this may be a simple typo, but the fact this Support page has been removed entirely hints there may be some truth to the mention.
This Support page listing plus rumours Microsoft will reveal a new Intel-powered Surface tablet on May 20 as well as a smaller screen Surface Mini.
Little is known about either tablet, but the Surface Mini is rumoured to include a 7.5-inch 1440 x 1080p full HD display with 4:3 aspect ratio running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor rather than an Intel CPU.
As for the Surface Pro 3, the tablet will apparently feature a new power-optimised Haswell processor, rather than an Intel Atom Bay Trail.
If the rumours are true, the Surface Pro 3 would be a quick turnaround on the Microsoft Surface Pro 2, which was only released in October 2013. The original Surface Pro was launched back in February 2013 though, so it doesn’t look like Microsoft is committed to a yearly launch cycle yet.
The Surface event is taking place on March 20, so we don’t have long to wait until we see which tablets Microsoft will unveil.
