The iPhone 6 release date may have just been revealed by a German network provider.

One major mobile network operator in Germany is trying to encourage its customers to extend their contracts in time for the iPhone 6.

According to German publication Apfelpage, the Deutsche Telekom Call Centre staff is telling customers the iPhone 6 release date will occur on September 19.

This will be the date from which the iPhone 6 will be available from the network and supposedly the Apple Store as well.

If this date is correct, the iPhone 6 will fall into the usual launch cycle set in place by Apple. The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C went on sale on September 20 2013, and the iPhone 5 on September 21 the year before.

This date also fits with the rumours that Apple Germany has told its store staff not to go on holiday in September, suggesting they’ll all need to be around when Apple releases its 2014 flagship.

The iPhone 6 is expected to launch with a 4.7-inch 960 x 1704p resolution display running on the new power-efficient Apple A8 processor.

That resolution would give the iPhone 6 a 416ppi image density, which is considerably denser than the 326ppi iPhone 5S.

The A8 processor might not bring major speed improvements over the 64-bit A7, but will apparently focus on big battery efficiency boosts.

The iPhone 6 should run a new iOS 8 mobile operating system that focuses on healthcare app Healthbook, according to rumours.

Reports also suggest that Apple will bring the sapphire technology used to protect elements of the iPhone 5S like the rear camera and Touch ID equipped home button to the iPhone 6 screen. This would make it much more resilient to scratches, cracks and accidental drops.
