HTC’s entry level smartphone line has been refreshed as the 5-inch HTC Desire 620 is formally unveiled.

A basic, Android-powered handset with an impressive camera collection, the HTC Desire 620 has been announced as a direct replacement to the Desire 610.

Despite featuring only minor improvements, the 620 has kicked on in the three key areas of smartphone progression – processing power, camera quality and battery life.

Our new HTC Desire model delivers the best of both worlds, combining a fresh, youthful design with powerful processing and super-fast connectivity,” Peter Frølund, HTC’s UK and Nordics General Manager, said in unveiling the device.

HTC Desire 620 Features

Having been handed a size increase, the 5-inch Desire 620 lines up identical in size to the company’s flagship HTC One M8. Sadly, although equal in size, screen quality is a notable step down from its sibling. The handset features a 1280 x 720 pixel HD Super LCD panel.

Powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, the Desire 620’s specs sheet is further enhanced by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD.

On the camera front the 610’s 8-megapixel primary snapper remains, although a new 5-megapixel offering has been added up front.

Running Android 4.4 KitKat skinned with HTC Sense 6, the Desire 620 is rounded off by a 2100mAh Lithium-Ion battery and 4G LTE connectivity options.

At 9.6mm thick and 145g in weight, the Desire 620 will be offered in three colour schemes, white/blue, grey/grey and grey/orange.

HTC Desire 620 Release Date and Price

For those eager to snap up HTC’s latest blower, you won’t have too long to wait. The Desire 620 release date has been confirmed for ‘early 2015’ with O2 announcing it will stock the device in January.

There is currently no word on official HTC Desire 620 pricing, but don’t expect it to be too hard on your wallet.
