EA Sports has released its free FIFA 14 app for iOS and Android devices, repackaging its next-gen football SIM for touchscreen devices.
“Feel the excitement of every pass, shot, and tackle with new touch controls. Plus, live every moment of real-world football with EA Sports Football Club Match Day. Get in there with FIFA 14!” reads the app’s blurb.
Gamers eager to get their hands on the console version of the game later this week, will be pleased to see EA Sports has put a lot of effort into the FIFA 14 app, so much so that the game comes as quite a sizeable download.
“This is a highly detailed game of superior quality. Please make sure you have at least 1.35GB of free space on your device,” reads the added disclaimer.
EA Sports has revamped the touch controls for FIFA 14. Known as Touch Flow Controls, they allow iOS and Android gamers to hold and drag players to move them around the field, and simply tap to pass or swipe to shoot for example.
Football enthusiasts can also play along with real-world fixtures using the EA Sports Football Club Match Day feature of the app, with “every injury, suspension, and change in team form” accurately reflected in the app’s game.
Although the app is free to download, EA Sports does offer premium content to purchase in-app. Players can buy Ultimate Team points or unlock additional game modes – Manager, Tournament and Kick Off!
Coins to purchase new players and items can be earned simply playing the game though, through completing tournaments.
For iOS devices, players will need to have iOS 5.0 or later, while Android device users will be required to have Android 2.3.3 and up.
The Google Play Store is offering a free Gold Premium Pack to anyone downloading the FIFA 14 app this week to tie in with the console game’s release on Friday.
