Dead Island Definitive Edition spotted online

Techland’s Dead Island could be shambling its way on to Xbox One and PS4 as the Dead Island Definitive Edition.

A remastered version of Dead Island could be coming to current generation consoles, if a recent online listing is to be believed.

South African website Loot.co.za has put up a product page for the game with the title Dead Island Definitive Edition. The remaster will supposedly be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Publisher Deep Silver and its parent company, Koch Media, are yet to comment on the listing or the possibility of a definitive edition in the future.

It is unclear what kind of upgrades and additions we could expect from a definitive edition of Dead Island. An improved framerate, textures and visual overhaul are obvious inclusions, but could we see some new content?

This isn’t the first time a remastered title has been prematurely announced by an online retailer. The Last of Us Remastered and Darksiders 2 were both leaked to the public before their official reveal.

Dead Island 2 was originally scheduled to release in 2015, but has since been pushed into 2016. Koch Media dropped the sequel’s developer, Yager, earlier this month after “careful consideration.”

It is still unclear who will take over development duties for Dead Island 2 after the departure of Yager, we are also curious to know who may be handling the alleged remaster of the original game.

Dead Island 2 will be the very first game in the franchise not being developed by Techland, the studio responsible for parkour zombie adventure Dying Light.
