Right now, we’re in the depths of an Apple launch event, and products are being turned out in abundance.
We’ve heard about Apple TV and the iPad Pro and the new Apple Watch OS at great length, but there was one product that was brushed over bewilderingly quickly.
We’re talking about the iPad Mini 4, the reveal of which Apple devoted a grand total of thirty seconds to.
That was after waxing lyrical on the brand new 12.9-inch iPad Pro for about twenty minutes. Yup, we’re confused too.
Nevertheless, here’s what we know. The first titbit of information we were given is that the device will now weigh 0.65 pounds. Great stuff.
The second factoid we received was that it will be as powerful as the iPad Air 2.
That means it’s going to be shipping with last year’s custom-built A8 chip inside. However, that's still a step down from the iPad Air 2's A8X chip. We're not quite sure why the performance comparison was made.
We’re not sure if that means the tablet will also feature 2GB of RAM – stay tuned on that point.
For all intents and purposes however, the device will remain largely the same as before.
To that end, the aesthetics will be unchanged and TouchID fingerprint scanning will feature once again.
And, of course, it will land running Apple’s new iOS 9 operating system straight out of the box.

All of this will set you back $399. Unfortunately, UK pricing has yet to be revealed.
We should also note that this new tablet means that the iPad Mini 2 now starts at $269.
