Overwatch’s latest hero is a chubby mech hamster and it’s adorable

*Update 28/06/2018*: Blizzard has followed up the teasers from previous days with the announcement of what appears to be a new hero.

Fan theories regarding previous teasers were right on the money, as the latest clip features the armoured boulder as a small hamster bursts out after firing off a series of rounds.

He looks absolutely adorable, although whether the hamster in question is Hammond hasn’t been confirmed. From what we know of Overwatch lore, it’d be strange if it wasn’t.

Original story follows:

Blizzard Entertainment appears to be teasing the next playable character for Overwatch across its social media channels.

The teasers have been shared on social media multiple times in recent days, and the passionate fanbase is already hard at work decrypting what’s been shown thus far.

Blizzard dropped the first teaser on June 22 with a six second video accompanied by the following tagline: Calm Before the Storm.

It appears to feature a backstreet in Overwatch’s King’s Row map. Located in London, this may be a purposeful tease of the new character’s origins.

Now, a second clue has been unleashed on social media, and it’s certainly more deliberate than Blizzard’s past effort.

Featuring the same dark, abandoned street, it’s also accompanied by a circular object roaring across the screen. Is it an object, character or perhaps something more?

We’ve no idea what it is, but upon further inspection, it seems to be labelled with markings and enhanced with some form of armour. Our money is on a method of transportation for a new hero. Check it out below:

Fan speculation currently believes the boulder to be Hammond, another animal who was raised and experimented on alongside Winston. We could certainly see the boulder as a part of its abilities, perhaps a charge similar to D.Va’s boost or Winston’s jump?

Overwatch currently has 27 playable characters, with Brigitte being the most recent addition. The offensive support hero is the daughter of Torbjorn and packs a punch if you’re skilled enough with her.

If it’s not a hero, it could always be a map. But teasing a new battleground on one that’s already present in the game seems a strange a way to reveal such a thing.
