Maybe think twice before installing the latest Surface Pro 4 update

Some users are reporting that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4‘s latest update is breaking a key part of the tablet’s functionality — its stylus.
It’s thought (via Neowin) that last month’s firmware and driver updates are to blame for the issues which, in addition to breaking pen input, are also resulting in long startup times and excessive fan usage.

A Microsoft representative has already responded to say that the company is looking into the issues, which should hopefully mean that a fix will be on the way soon, even if an exact date is yet to be announced.
Although the tablet is still usable via its keyboard cover, issues with pen support isn’t a great look for Microsoft especially if it wants the tablet to be a serious contender for digital illustrators. With Apple Pencil support having come to the regular iPad 2018, the Surface isn’t quite as unique a tablet as it once was.

Although it doesn’t include it in the box, the mini tablet also includes support for the Surface Pen, giving it potential as a budget replacement for the full size Surface Pro for illustrators.
