The phones are out, and the numbers are in – Samsung reveals early sales figures for its new handsets.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S7 Edge is the more popular of its two new handsets so far, in Europe anyway.
The company says the larger S7 Edge accounts for 61% of sales so far, compared to 39% for the Galaxy S7.
But both phones are performing better than last year’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, apparently. Samsung revealed that sales are 2.5 times higher than the previous generation flagships.
It’s not just Samsung reporting stellar sales either. Carphone Warehouse says they’ve seen a 200% increase in pre-orders compared to last year’s models.

“The pre-order performance of the new Galaxy S& and S7 Edge illustrates strong customer appetite for our premium smartphones in the UK,” says Conor Pierce, VP of Samsung’s Mobile division in the UK.
“Customers opening their new Galaxy phone want new innovations and experiences, powered by their smartphone,” he continues. “We are confident that our new devices fulfil this need better than anything else available on the market.”
Pierce adds: “By creating a world of connected products and services through the Gear VR, Gear 360 and Samsung Pay, we are providing a highly differentiated and richer experience for our consumers, a central part of our strategy.”
