Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate Gaming Notebooks announced

Nvidia has announced it is bringing its G-Sync technology to notebooks and tablets with the Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate Gaming Notebooks range.

G-Sync technology is coming to laptops this year, along with some brand new monitors, thanks to Nvidia.

For the G-Sync Ultimate Gaming Notebooks range, unlike the desktop GPUs, it’s the Notebook GPU that is directly driving the panel.

But, even though it’s driven directly by the G-Sync GPU without the need for an adapter, you’ll still get the same results. That means the same variable refresh that aims to eliminate tearing and stuttering without compromising on resolution or image quality..

Moreover, it means no extra cost to laptop manufacturers, as is the case with G-Sync desktop monitors where a separate module is required..

G-Sync’s rival, AMD FreeSync, has had the opportunity to gain traction as it doesn’t require a licensed chip to be used in FreeSync monitors. However, FreeSync is yet to hit laptops.

The panels on the G-Sync Ultimate Gaming Notebooks range have been carefully selected for their flicker-free quality and are actually the first 75Hz notebook gaming displays.

Thanks to G-Sync, they are always synchronised with the GPU’s output framerate so deliver a smooth gaming experience.

The range will start becoming available on June 1, with the G-Sync Notebooks available from Gigabyte, MSI, Asus and Clevo — depending on your region.

They are as follows:

  • Gigabyte Aorus X7 Pro-Sync: GTX 970M SLI, 17.3-inch 1080p full HD display
  • Gigabyte Aorus X5: GTX 965M SLI, 15.6-inch 3K display
  • MSI GT72 G: GTX 980M or GTX 970M, 17.3-inch 1080p full HD display
  • ASUS G751: GTX 980M or GTX 970M, 17.3-inch 1080p full HD display
  • Clevo P770ZM-G: GTX 980M or GTX 970M, 17.3-inch 1080p full HD display
  • Clevo P750ZM-G: GTX 980M or GTX 970M, 15.6-inch 4K display

Pricing and more specific availability will be revealed by individual manufacturers.
