Nexus 9 hits Google Play, only 16GB model for now

The Nexus 9 tablet is on sale now from Google Play. But you’re out of luck if you’re after the 32GB model.

That version is listed as out of stock, so for now at least, you can only get your hands on the 16GB model.

The website advises to check back soon. We’ve asked Google when it will be available and will update this story if we hear back.

The 16GB model will set you back £319, and ships in one to two business days. The 32GB model will cost £399.

Both come in three colours: black, white and sand. Though the sand version is listed as coming soon, for both 16GB and 32GB models.

The tablet only comes Wi-Fi-only at the moment too, so we’ll have to wait for the LTE model.

Delays all round, in other words.

The tablet is the first device to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. Lollipop has a new-look interface, dubbed Material. It’s a world away from the current flat look of Android.

It will also add real-time generated shadows on interface elements, adding an extra sense of depth to the UI.

Lollipop is said to be the fastest Android rollout yet.

On the hardware side, the Nexus 9 packs an 8.9-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 2,048×1,536 pixels. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera, and it has a 1.2-megapixel front-facer.
