Microsoft blings up Lumia 930 and Lumia 830 with gold trim

Microsoft has announced gold-trimmed special editions for two of its top Lumia smartphones.
The flagship Lumia 930 and the recently-launched mid-range Lumia 830 are in for a “high-end refresh” with an anodised gold paint job. Both phones will be available in black or white (a la the Champagne Gold iPhones) complete with the new finish.
According to the Lumia Conversations blog, the top end Lumia 930 will land in Europe this month, while the Lumia 830 arrives with its new colour scheme in February. There’s no word yet on the price.
The official announcement follows a report this week hinting the Lumia 830 gold edition was on the way.
The 5-inch 720p handset brought a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. The device has a 10-megapixel rear camera.
The higher-end Lumia 930, which was built for Windows Phone 8.1, received the same score thanks to its 1080p AMOLED screen and impressive 20-megapixel camera. It fell short of top marks due to its average battery life, squarer design and lack of a HDR camera mode.
