Mass Effect trilogy listed for Xbox One and PS4 by retailer
The Mass Effect Trilogy has been listed for the Xbox One and PS4 by a Chilean retailer.
It looks like BioWare could launch a next-generation version of the original Mass Effect Trilogy in the near future, as Chilean retail Zmart lists both an Xbox One and PS4 edition of the game.
Neither listing specifies a release date for the next-generation versions of the trilogy or a price, so we’ll have to wait until an official announcement before we know that.
The listing does offer some good looking boxart for the PS4 and Xbox One Mass Effect Trilogy though, so it is looking good for a next-gen refresh.
BioWare has suggested that it has already been discussed within the team, with BioWare’s Aaryn Flynn recently tweeting that it had already been “discussed internally”.
“If we can put solid plans together we’ll share,” added Flynn on Twitter in March.
It looks like the next-gen version would include all three Mass Effect games released so far, along with the majority of the games’ DLC.
This is similar to the Mass Effect Trilogy released on PC and Xbox 360 back in November 2012, which was then released on PS3 in December 2012.
That was the first time the Mass Effect series had been made available for PlayStation consoles, and was presented using a more recent version of the game engine.
Hopefully, the next-gen version of the Mass Effect Trilogy will work in a similar fashion to the recent Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, boosting the graphics and performance of the titles.
Naughty Dog and Sony also confirmed that The Last of Us is coming to PS4 in June, with the Remastered title and full 1080p HD visuals.
BioWare has been working on a brand new Mass Effect game for quite some time now, dubbed Mass Effect 4 until we know the official title. Back in December, BioWare teased that Mass Effect 4 is already playable and is “ambitious, fresh yet recognisable”.
The developer is also working on a new IP and an unannounced Star Wars game that we should get some more information on soon.
