One lucky customer appears to have received their rose gold-coloured iPhone 6S already, and has done the honourable thing by providing benchmark results. Needless to say, it’s fast.
Apple’s new smartphone isn’t set to land with customers until Friday, but San Diego-based Twitter user @MoonshineDesign received hers on Monday.
As 9to5mac highlights, there’s pretty convincing photographic evidence that this is genuine: photos include the iPhone 6S itself and its slick packaging. Meanwhile, US network AT&T added its own stamp of authenticity by congratulating its customer on their new toy.
More interestingly, the jammy customer has provided Geekbench benchmark results that reveal the new A9 chip to be a bit of a beast.
In the single-core test, the iPhone 6S scored a staggering 2,413. That’s 1,000 or so more points than the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 tend to score.

As for the multi-core score, the iPhone 6S nailed a cool 4,293. That’s around 2,000 more than the iPhone 6, and is only a few hundred short of the Galaxy S6. Given that Samsung’s mighty phone utilises double the number of active cores, which gives it – and every top Android phone – a considerable advantage over Apple hardware in such benchmarks, this is also very impressive.
Another point that these early benchmarks have clarified is that the iPhone 6S does indeed have 2GB of RAM – twice that of the iPhone 6.
