Apple has released an iOS 7.0.1 patch that is exclusive to the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and will be a required download on start up.
The iOS 7 patch was actually made available on Wednesday, alongside apple’s new mobile operating system, but will only start affecting users today.
Apparently, the iOS 7.0.1 patch is intended to repair an issue with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5S, which involves using the scanner to make iTunes purchases.
It’s not clear what issues the patch resolves for the plastic bodied iPhone 5C as the smartphone lacks the Touch ID sensor of its flagship sibling.
Anyone who bagged themselves an iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S today will have to download the iOS 7.0.1 as an over-the-air update when booting the smartphones up.
All Apple has said about the iOS 7.0.1 update is that it contains “bug fixes and improvements.”
The update is accessed through the iPhone Settings application or through iTunes running version 11.1.

Launched this week, Apple aimed to create a flatter, more refined experience for iOS users, but the jury is still out on whether the Cupertino company has been successful.
“Downloading iOS 7 is like getting an all new phone that you already know how to use,” said Craig Federighi during the Apple event last week.
iOS 7 does away with the skeuomorphic icons and textures of previous iOS iterations in favour of more user friendly and aesthetically pleasing.
The native apps have also had a facelift and new features have been introduced to Apple applications like the Camera and Photo Gallery.
Apple has added a new control panel with iOS 7 and changed the notifications centre too.
